Here is one of the recipies that was in the article. It is very good. Don't let the name or sound of it get you. If you like chess pie you'll like this. It's a southern thang. We have got to have our grits.
GREEN GRITS PIE
1/8 tea salt
1/4 cup quick cooking grits(not instant)
1/2 cup butter
green food coloring
3/4 cup sugar
2 TB all purpose flour
3 large eggs, beaten
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 tea vanilla
1- 9in pie crust, unbaked, fitted into a pie plate
1 cup of whipping cream, whipped and sweetend with 1 TB confectioner's sugar and colored with
1 drop of food coloring
Preheat oven to 325,in a small sauce pan, bring 3/4 cup water and salt to a boil, add grits, reduce heat, cover and cook over low heat for 5 min., stirring several times until grits are thick.
Add butter and 1 drop of food coloring, stir until butter melts. Set aside and allow grits to cool. In a small bowl, stir sugar, flour, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. stir well into cooled grits. Pour mixture into pie crust and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until set. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
Enjoy!!!!!!

Grits? What are these grits? Is it something like True Grit? I like John Wayne...I'd take a box of him. Wait...that doesn't sound too good. Better take him without the box.

Seriously...northerner here...we don't have grits in our stores to the best of my knowledge.
