This week blog-a thon theme is getting crafty. I enjoy taking old sheets and tearing them up into stips and then crocheting them into rugs. I found out how to do this from reading Mary Jane Butters' book. I made alot of rugs for gifts and have also sold them. This is such an easy craft to do. I just crochet a straight line until I get the length that I like then turn and just single crochet back across until I get the width that I like. If you are interested in connecting with other farmgirls check out Mary Jane's website. You will find some very interesting ladies there. Just give it a try, you won't be sorry. www.maryjanesfarm.org

OK. This is the first time in a while that I've been excited about a craft. I love this idea. I totally want to try this. Can you share instructions or do I need to buy the book?
I want to do this kind of craft Laura...in fact..gosh..I just need to get out the crochet needles and teach myself how to do this. My grandmother was a phenomenal crocheter..she created some very lovely pieces and would even design patterns for those Annie's Attic books.
I have always loved crochet work.
you have definitely given me the spark to just go for it.
thanks Laura.
very crafty indeed, what a good idea. I have some old sheets that would make very nice rugs, i might braid mine though
